U.S. Soldiers assigned to 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division fly a CH-47 Chinook helicopter for sling load operation near Yuma, Ariz., on June 9, 2025. Sling load operations allow for a Ground Base Operational Surveillance System (Expeditionary)(G-BOSS(E)) to be transported by helicopter to remote areas of the border that are difficult or impossible to travel to by ground. Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force - Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all - domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
