U.S. Soldiers, assigned to 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division fly a CH-47 Chinook helicopter for sling load operations near Yuma, Ariz., on June 9, 2025. Sling load operations allow for equipment to be transported by helicopter to remote areas of the border that are difficult or impossible to travel to by ground. Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force - Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all - domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
