Capt. Cody Blackburn, special security officer for the 120th Regional Support Group, alerts other Soldiers of the team of a notional crisis occurring at a fictional location, while Sgt. 1st Class Jessica Kurka, assistant operations NCO, records the information during a table-top exercise held as part of the unit’s annual training at the Maine Army National Guard Armory in Augusta, June 2, 2025. The unit was conducting a staff exercise, designed to provide a chance for all staff to work together in addressing scenarios and crises that might occur during a real-world mobilization. Trainers from Valiant Integrated Services provided feedback during the exercise and the unit will eventually be tested by senior Army leadership to validate their readiness to deploy.
