Capt. Michael Walls is a native of Phoenix, Ariz. and graduated from Arizona State University in 2004. He was recently selected to participate in The Olmsted Scholar Program which offers educational grants for two years of graduate study in a foreign language. Currently serving as the platoon commander for 2nd Brigade, 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company in Okinawa, Japan, he will be Russian before going to St. Petersburg, Russia in 2014.
