A member of a U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment and U.S. Navy Sailors conduct maintenance on M-4 service rifles in the hangar bay of the Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Charleston (LCS 18), while underway in the Pacific Ocean, May 27, 2025. Charleston is employed under U.S. Northern Command’s maritime homeland defense authorities with a Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment embarked to enable maritime interdiction missions to prevent the flow of illegal drugs and other illegal activity.
