Col. (Ret.) Keith Nightingale speaks at the memorial ceremony in honor of the Allied Paratroopers who participated in the Normandy invasion at Sainte-Mère-Église, France, June 4, 2025. During his time as a battalion commander in the 82nd Airborne Division, Nightingale returned to Normandy with Paratroopers for the 40th anniversary, marking the first time they had been to Sainte-Mère-Église since June 6, 1944. The 82nd Airborne Division honors the 81st anniversary of D-Day by partaking in the memorials and ceremonies commemorating the heroes and veterans who fought to liberate the Normandy region from German occupation during World War II.
