U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Elijah Gibbons, a rifleman with Bravo Company, Marine Barracks Washington, fires the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) light machine gun during a machine gun range exercise at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, June 4, 2025. As members of the Corps’ premier ceremonial and security unit, these Marines maintain their operational proficiency through routine training with these weapon systems. This training included live firing of the M240B machine gun and the M249 SAW, performing corrective action, and proper handling of both weapons. Such rigorous training ensures these Marines remain ready and lethal, prepared to meet any mission at home or abroad. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Christopher Prelle)
