NASSAU, BAHAMAS (May 29, 2025) (from left) Cmdr. Gregory Piorun, commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107), Kimberly Furnish, Charge d’Affaires to the U.S. Embassy, Nassau, The Honorable Minister Wayne Monroe, The Bahamas’ Minister of National Security, and The Honorable Minister Alfred Sears, The Bahamas’ Minister of Immigration and National Insurance participate in a cake cutting ceremony during a reception while the ship is moored in Nassau, Bahamas. U.S. Navy assets are deployed under U.S. Northern Command’s maritime homeland defense authorities with a U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment embarked to enable maritime interdiction missions to prevent the flow of illegal drugs and other illegal activity. U.S. Northern Command is working together with the Department of Homeland Security to provide additional military forces and capabilities at the southern border.
