Lance Cpl. James T. Youpee uses his M-240 Bravo machine gun to ensure security April 10 during final field exercises on Andersen South during Exercise Guahan Shield. The exercises, using both logistics Marines and infantrymen, consisted of raids and patrols in and around abandoned housing areas and the surrounding jungle. Guahan Shield will facilitate multiservice engagements, set conditions for bilateral and multilateral training opportunities, and support rapid response to potential theatre crises and contingency operations in the Asia-Pacific region. The logistics Marines are part of Combat Logistics Detachment 39, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Youpee is a Machine Gunner with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, which is currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force under the unit deployment program.
