Liz and J.T. Pianetta, family members of Capt. Carl Bauer, inspect the wreckage at the B-29 "Colleen" crash site on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, April 11, 2025. Liz Pianetta, is the niece of Capt. Bauer. He was the captain of the B-29 "Colleen" and flew the plane for 13 successful missions. Unfortunately, tragedy would occur on the 14th mission. A mixture of mechanical issues and bad weather forced the plane and its crew down into the northern cliffside jungles of Guam. 2025 marks the 80th Anniversary of the accident and Liz and her family came to the site to honor the fallen.
