U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents conduct detection and monitoring operations along the southern border near Nogales, Ariz., May 7, 2025. These patrols support efforts to detect and prevent illegal border crossings, drug trafficking, and human smuggling, while enforcing immigration laws and safeguarding national security. Under the direction of the U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force–Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
