STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. -- Adm. Alvin Holsey, commander, U.S. Southern Command, interacts with international officers currently attending the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School's (NAVSCIATTS) Strategic Leaders International Course (SLIC) during a tour of facilities located on the Stennis Space Center in South Mississippi, May 14.
SLIC is a five-week in-resident course designed to build partner capacity by offering senior military leaders (05-07 level) and senior government officials of partner nations new perspectives, methodologies, and opportunities for thinking strategically and for designing strategies that successfully address complex challenges.
Officers attending the current iteration represent Angola, Bangladesh, Côte d'Ivoire, Hungary, Jordan, Malaysia, and Thailand. For more than 60 years, NAVSCIATTS has provided vital training to U.S. allies and partners who rely on small vessels to secure their waterways, shorelines, and ports to counter transnational criminal organizations and other malign activities globally.
NAVSCIATTS is a security cooperation schoolhouse operating under U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command in support of foreign security assistance and geographic combatant commanders' theater security cooperation priorities. To date, this historic command has trained with almost 15,000 international security force professionals from more than 130 partner nations. (U.S. Navy photo by Angela K. Fry)
