On Feb, 12, 1990, the USS Tennessee (SSBN 732 - Blue) successfully launched the first Trident II D5 missile of a two-ripple launch during Demonstration and Shakedown Operation 1 and 2 (DASO-1 and 2) off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida. These Trident II missiles were the ninth and 10th Trident II D5 missiles launched from a submerged submarine. These two were the last of the Performance Evaluation Missiles to be launched. The D5 is a three-stage, solid propellant, inertially guided fleet ballistic missile launched underwater from the Ohio-class submarines.
