NORFOLK, Va. (April 25, 2025) Aviation Electronics Technician 3rd Class Blake Pitchford, from Charlotte, North Carolina, assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), stands by to present colors as part of the color guard during a Norfolk Tides’ baseball game as part of the Iwo Jima’s command picnic at Tides’ Stadium. Iwo Jima is the flagship of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group which is uniquely positioned to deter aggression, project power through presence abroad, and execute contingency missions with its integrated Marine Corps team in support of U.S. strategic interests.
