Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s Education & Staff Development team recently conducted Delayed Evacuation Casualty Management (DECM) training for Army Combat Medics.
This essential training prepares medics to provide extended care in situations where evacuation is delayed or unavailable. By using high-fidelity simulation manikins, Soldiers can practice critical skills in realistic, high-stress scenarios that mirror combat conditions—building confidence, clinical judgment, and muscle memory.
By learning to manage casualties with limited resources beyond the typical 20-minute window, medics are better equipped to save lives and increase survivability in austere, remote, or contested environments.
