The French navy offshore patrol vessel Auguste Bénébig sits moored at Base Navale de Nouméa, New Caledonia, during Exercise Croix du Sud 25, April 22, 2025. Soldiers from the 322nd Civil Affairs Functional Specialty Team toured the vessel as part of the multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief exercise. Auguste Bénébig is the lead ship of the Félix Éboué-class, designed for extended missions in French overseas territories and equipped for maritime surveillance, law enforcement, and humanitarian operations. Croix du Sud 25 brings together military forces from the United States, New Caledonia, and other partner nations to conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, enhancing interoperability and readiness for natural disaster response.
