U.S. Army Lt. Col. Travis Walter, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Detachment 2 commander, and General Nguyen Ba Thang, Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons, sign transfer documents before a repatriation ceremony in Vietnam, April 19, 2025. The ceremony marked the culmination of the efforts of three recovery teams to recover U.S. personnel unaccounted for during the Vietnam War. During the ceremony, an honor guard team escorted the potential remains for transport to the DPAA Laboratory on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Once there, the scientific analysis process will begin. There are currently 1,573 Americans missing from the Vietnam War. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Megan Ozaki)
