YOKOSUKA, Japan (April 11, 2025) U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka Director Capt. Torrin Velazquez discusses the capabilities of both the hospital and U.S. Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (USNMRTC) Yokosuka with Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Services Policy and Oversight Susan Orsega during a tour. Velazquez is also the commanding officer of USNMRTC Yokosuka, which is collocated within the hospital and ensures active duty and assigned civilian staff are trained, manned, and equipped for operational readiness. During the visit, Orsega engaged hospital leadership, staff and Sailors about their capabilities and concerns and thanked them for the significant role they play in keeping warfighters and their families in a high state of medical readiness.
