Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Matthew Vasquez, from Las Vegas, assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG 106), observes the fueling of an MH-60R, assigned to the “Magicians” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 35, while underway in the Pacific Ocean, April 12, 2025. Stockdale is being employed under U.S. Northern Command’s maritime homeland defense authorities with a Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment embarked to enable maritime interdiction missions to prevent the flow of illegal drugs and other illegal activity. U.S. Northern Command is working together with the Department of Homeland Security to provide additional military forces and additional capabilities at the southern border.
