    U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Brian N. Wolford, left, the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, presents the U.S. flag to Walter LaSota, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, April 1, 2025. The two-time Purple Heart recipient LaSota returned to the island for the first time in 80 years with help from the Eagle Society, which brings WWII veterans back to their battle sites. LoSota visited multiple sites including Toguchi Beach, where he landed on the island, and Sugar Loaf Hill, where he was wounded twice.
