Marine, Illinois, Mayor Kelly Tracy served as the master of ceremonies for the Gold Star Mission scholarship banquet on Saturday, March 22, in Springfield, Illinois. The 9th annual Gold Star 500 from Sept. 23-27 will ride through Marine on the last day. Gold Star Mission was started in 2017 by a group of Illinois National Guard members and retirees as a way of keeping the memory of fallen Illinois service members alive. Brig. Gen. Lenny Williams, the Assistant Adjutant General - Army of the Illinois National Guard and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard, was the keynote speaker at the banquet.
