U. S. Navy USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) conduct a resupply at sea with the USNS Big Horn (T-AO-198), at sea, March 14, 2013. The 26th MEU is deploying to the 5th and 6th Fleets area of operations. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force.
