Service members from U.S. Special Operations Command Pacific and Royal Thai Army’s 1st Special Forces Division conduct military free-fall and static line jumps at Chiang Mai, Kingdom of Thailand, March 2, 2025, during joint exercise Cobra Gold. SOCPAC serves as the operational component command for all SOF missions throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Joint training in MFF and static line jumps builds trust and camaraderie, standardizes skills and techniques, and improves communication between different units. The exchange of knowledge and expertise between partner forces strengthens their overall capability. Cobra Gold is the largest joint and combined exercise in mainland Asia, held annually in Thailand, showcasing the U.S. commitment to the region by building interoperability, multilateral cooperative arrangements, and advancing common interests through a commitment to allies and partners in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific.
