U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Floyd Celestine opens a packet of crackers from a Meal Ready-to-Eat, showing students at the Nikom School what is inside MREs, during a community outreach visit in Chonburi province, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 19, part of exercise Cobra Gold 2013. MREs are commonly eaten by U.S. service members during exercises and deployments. U.S. Marines and sailors visited the school to build relationships with members of the local community. Exercise Cobra Gold, in its 32nd iteration, is designed to advance regional security and ensure effective response to regional crises by exercising a robust multinational force from nations sharing common goals and security commitments in the Asia-Pacific region.
