U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Itzel Larios, 40th Brigade Support Battalion, California Army National Guard, pets a peer support dog at the Chaplain Summit, Rose Bowl Stadium, Calif., Jan. 17, 2025. The Chaplain Summit and the animal peer support team provide support services to Guard members and peers working on the LA wildfire response mission. During this state emergency, Cal Guard members provided aerial firefighting support, handcrew type 1 and 2 capabilities on the fires, and assisted on security and traffic control for local and state agencies.
