(Jan. 31, 2025) Contractors assist in mounting a Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS), aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), at BAE Norfolk Ship Repair, Jan. 31, 2025. Phalanx CIWS combines a 20mm Gatling gun with search and tracking radar to provide surface ships with terminal defense against anti-ship missiles enhancing their ability to support its joint U.S. Navy and Marine Corps missions.
