Members of Takane Medachi-style Hayashi preservation group from Mizuho town perform a Shishi-mai dance (Guardian lion dance) during the annual Yokota Friendship Clubs’ New Year’s Party at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Jan. 25, 2025. The Shishi-mai dance, a Japanese folk performing art, is performed during New Year’s celebrations and festivals as a traditional event to get rid of misfortune or disaster while offering prayers for good health. The New Year’s party was hosted by the 374th Airlift Wing and the seven friendship clubs across the municipalities of Fussa, Akiruno, Mizuho, Hamura, Musashimurayama, Ome, and Akisima.
