On a Florida beach, a small dune was selected to take a sample from which a team from the University of Florida and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center so that they may study its internal structure.
USACE Jacksonville Districts, Operations Division's operators assisted with equipment in the dune extraction during this technical mission. Construction control representative, Blake Stratton and engineering equipment operator Glenn Forbes discuss capturing the dune sample in the steel box. The excavator carefully positions a steel box to capture a section of a small dune so that the team can study it at the ERDC's laboratory. (U.S. Army photo by Brigida I. Sanchez)
