U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Nicholas Baumbach an armory chief with Detachment D Company, 4th
Law Enforcement Battalion, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve, secures a
towing strap to the back of a snowmobile during a simulated snowmobile retrieval mission, Jim
Creek, Alaska, Nov. 20, 2024. The Marines secured the towing strap while conducting cold-
weather safety training to prepare for upcoming Toys for Tots events. The Marines’ participation
in this training prepares them to operate in harsh-weather conditions above the arctic circle,
familiarizing themselves with survival techniques, snowmobile operation and the daily tasks they
