U.S. Air Force Major General Kenneth Ekman, Director, AFRICOM Coordination Element (ACE), and LTC Lucien Hounsou, Commander of the 2nd Joint Army Battalion at Parakou Base, discussed Operation Mirador, observed Border Security training for troops supporting the operation, and visited a 200m shooting range, built by SOCAF, where Team Benin conducted marksmanship training with 2nd Joint Army Battalion soldiers.
The AFRICOM Coordination Element (ACE) is part of the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), a unified combatant command responsible for U.S. military activities across the African continent. The ACE is responsible for supporting AFRICOM's mission in West Africa by enhancing coordination, communication, and integration with various U.S. government agencies, host nations, and international partners.
