241120-N-SS900-1016 NAVAL BASE POINT LOMA (Nov. 20, 2024) Peruvian Navy Vice Adm. Javier Bravo De Rueda, commander, Pacific Operations Command; Capt. Will Wiley, commander, Submarine Squadron (CSS) 11; and Rear Adm. Robert Wirth, commander, Submarine Group TEN, meet during an office call for the Diesel-Electric Submarine Initiative (DESI) at CSS-11 on board Naval Base Point Loma, Nov. 20, 2024. The DESI program was established in 2001 by U.S. Fleet Forces Command and partners with South American submarine-operating navies as they participate in fleet readiness exercises. CSS-11, home to four Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarines, which are capable of supporting various missions, including: anti-submarine warfare; anti-ship warfare; strike warfare; and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
