Sgt. Jonathan Dickerson, 27-year-old native of Green Cove Springs, Fla., hurls a discus during track and field practice for the 2013 Marine Corps Trials at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 27, 2013. Dickerson, while an assault amphibious vehicle crewmember with 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, was injured in 2007 when his amphibious assault vehicle drove over a pressure plate in Afghanistan. Dickerson plans to compete in the field and sitting volleyball portions of the Trials. The Trials is an opportunity for wounded Marines, veterans and allies to compete in wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, track and field, swimming, archery and shooting. The top 50 athletes will go on to compete against wounded warriors from the other branches of military service at the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., in May.
