Pennsylvania Air National Guard Capt. Kenneth Loesch, Mission Commander for exercise Spartan Dagger, takes a moment to appreciate the fading light of day as the sun sets over Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst from the side door of a KC-135 Stratotanker. The brief pause in the frenetic pace of pre-mission preparations will soon give way to the dynamic environment of a joint exercise as the aircraft and its crew prepare to depart for Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to integrate with international partners.
