SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 28, 2024) U. S. Navy Sailors, assigned to the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Omaha (LCS 12) conduct flight operations with embarked Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 35 in the South China Sea, Oct. 28. USS Omaha is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. Omaha, part of Commander, Destroyer Squadron 7, is on a rotational deployment operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
