NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (Oct. 22, 2024) Chief Damage Controlman Jamie Mosteller, right, and Damage Controlman 2nd Class Omar Moran, assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), set up a dewatering machine for a damage control olympics competition during Surface Line Week 2024 Oct. 22, 2024. The weeklong competition, hosted by Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, highlights professional and athletic skills while enhancing Surface Warfare culture, connectedness, and team building among the Surface Force.
