U.S. Airmen assigned to the 823d Expeditionary Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineer, or RED HORSE, don safety equipment before cleaning up from Hurricane Milton at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, October 14, 2024. The 823d RED HORSE Squadron is assigned to the Air Combat Command and is an associate unit on Hurlburt Field. Hurricane Milton brought strong winds and heavy rain to the installation, which downed trees and flooded some low-lying areas. The 823d RED HORSE Squadron came from Hurlburt Field in order to aid MacDill AFB in their recovery efforts, clearing over 150 thousand pounds of debris.
