Lt. Col. Robert Green, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Commander, engaged with Tennessee Congressional District (TN-1) Representative Diana Harshbarger and Green County, Tennessee Mayor Keven Morrison at the county emergency operation center, Oct. 1. The engagement focused on impacts due to heavy rain and flooding caused by Hurricane Helene and possible USACE support through FEMA.
The Corps is working in partnership with the local, state, and federal agencies to support Hurricane Helene recovery. USACE conducts its emergency response activities under two basic authorities – Public Law 84-99 (Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies), and when mission assigned by FEMA under the Stafford Disaster and Emergency Assistance Act.
