U.S. Army Spc. Haven Smith, a member of team 4, representing AMC for Army Best Squad, removes his jacket in preparation for the Combat Water Survival Test before the Army Best Squad Competition at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, Sept. 30, 2024. The 9-day competition features the Army’s best squads from 12 competing commands and stresses their ability to adapt and overcome challenging scenarios that push their physical and mental endurance. The CWST required the competitors to Swim in Uniform while simultaneously carrying weapons, dive 12 and remove their Tactical Assault Panel, and successfully create a flotation device out of their pants.
