Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Kansas City (LCS 22) with sailors embarked from Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Savannah (LCS 28) participate in a surface action group live-fire gunnery exercise alongside the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Montgomery (LCS 8), Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS Gridley (DDG 101), and USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) while operating in the Pacific Ocean, Sept. 27, 2024. Kansas City is underway in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations conducting Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT).
