Chief Warrant Officer 2 Martin Johnston (right), commander of the 101st Airborne Division Band, poses for a picture with the director of “Behind the Horizon,” a theatrical performance about the vulnerability of freedom, during the opening ceremony of the 80th Commemoration of Operation Market Garden in North Brabant, Netherlands, Sept. 13, 2024. The 101st Airborne Division and 1st Cavalry Division Bands performed the original composition for the performance, which took place at Vlagheide near Eerde, the hill where 101st paratroopers landed Sept. 17, 1944. The Dutch commemorate Operation Market Garden with parades, reenactments and educational programs. These activities honor the bravery of both the soldiers and the civilians involved.
