U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Steven Rivas, an expeditionary firefighting and rescue specialist with Marine Wing Support Squadron 373, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, holds a coin presented by Lt. Gen. Michael Cederholm, the commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, Sept. 4, 2024. “Today, I showed the Commanding General our expeditionary capabilities, and what we can do with the resources we have,” Rivas was recognized for his leadership and maintenance roles as MWSS-373’s lead firefighter, where he maintained exceptional physical fitness standards, prepared his platoon for site inspections, and increased readiness for his unit’s P-19R aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicle. Rivas helped improve P-19R readiness from 33% to 83%, which is currently the highest in I MEF. During Cederholm’s tour of MACG-38, he recognized standout Marines and viewed the different warfighting capabilities of MWCS-38 and MWSS-373. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Jennifer Sanchez)
