U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Ryan Rosales, an infantry Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires an M27 service rifle during a deck shoot aboard the amphibious assault ship the USS America (LHA 6) in the Sea of Japan, Sept. 1, 2024. The Marines conducted the live-fire training to improve their marksmanship in close proximity situations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
