U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Tyler Harne with the Hershel “Woody” Williams (HWW) Marine Detachment is promoted to the rank of lance corporal by the Chief of the Larve Village in Ghana on July 1, 2024. The HWW Marine Detachment, while under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, is constructing a schoolhouse for elementary-aged children as part of an Engineering Civic Action Program, and is conducting operations in U.S. Marine Forces Africa area of operations to support partner nations. Task Force 61/2 aligns deployed maritime forces under the Naval Amphibious Force commander; deployed amphibious ready groups, Marine Expeditionary Units, Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company, Europe, and reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance forces.
