The grave of U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Charles Perry, an OSS operative who died during an aerial insertion as part of Operation Union II during World War II, is adorned with flowers in preparation for the Operation Dragoon 80th anniversary ceremony at the Rhone American Cemetery and Memorial, Draguignan, France, Aug. 16, 2024. The ceremony is held every year to honor the sacrifice of the 1,154 service members memorialized at the Rhone American Cemetery, who fought to liberate France from German forces in the European theater of World War II.
