The District of Columbia National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP) welcomed members of the Burkina Faso Armed Forces to the National Capital Region for a Mortuary Affairs Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), Aug. 12-16, 2024. The delegation visit included a tour of Arlington National Cemetery's interment operations with the D.C. National Guard’s Chaplain Corps. In 2019, Burkina Faso became the D.C. National Guard’s second state partnership. The relationship enhances readiness, interoperability and regional expertise, while supporting broader U.S. government objectives in Africa.
