ARLINGTON, Va. (Aug. 2, 2024) Sailors assigned to the Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) lay a wreath at the gravesite of Chief Engineman Gerard Emil Zinser at Arlington National Cemetery. Zinser served alongside the ship's namesake, then-Lt. John F. Kennedy, on PT-109, marking the anniversary of the PT-109 crash. The John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier under construction at Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding division in Newport News, Va.
