U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Carlos Marrero-Rivera, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) medic augmentee, places a blood pressure cuff on a Lao citizen during a medical outreach event on a recovery mission in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Aug. 3, 2024. U.S. military personnel provided medications to Lao citizens based on their medical needs. Since 1985, the United States and Lao governments have worked closely together to find and recover unaccounted-for American personnel.
