Lao citizens pass buckets of soil from the excavation units to the wet screen stations during recovery operations in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, July 26, 2024. Lao citizens provide continual support throughout the mission by transferring the excavated soil and looking through the soil for potential aircraft wreckage, life support material and possible osseous material. There are currently 1,575 missing and unaccounted-for Americans from the Vietnam War. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Lesley B. Cisneros)
