A U.S. Navy landing craft, air cushion approaches the amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) to onload equipment and transport U.S. Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, July 29, 2024. The Marines and U.S. Navy Sailors worked together to enhance interoperability and strengthen ship-to-shore capabilities. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
