As part of RD 24, the 1st MDTF trained with HABs to validate developing innovation capabilities such as extended range sensing to enhanced maritime domain awareness, and to protect the United States, its partners and allies, and to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific. RD 24 is an annual bilateral exercise in Japan that strengthens the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of U.S. Marines in the III Marine Expeditionary Force and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, with a focus on controlling and defending key maritime terrain.
